Wedding Day

I worried for months that it would rain on my wedding day.  I obsessed about it, mainly b/c I didn't want to shell out the big bucks for a tent shelter.  I was tempting fate, I know...but for once life cooperated and sent us a beautiful day!  It was overcast the morning of but by noon the sky was blue and the sun was shining.  Lovely!
These are iPhone photos, not the professional ones.  I should have those next week sometime. Until then...

My dress.  I love this dress however it was a bit of a challenge to wear because none of those layers were sewn together at the sides.  If it had been a windy day, the guests would have gotten a show they hadn't bargained for!  ;)

My BFF (and bridesmaid) Channon, enjoying her cupcake.  I love this girl!  Don't get me started on the Great Dress Disaster of 2013!  I had the girls order (what appeared to be) lovely custom made summer sundresses from a girl on Etsy.  The girls got their dresses back and they were HUGE!  The dresses were literally falling off of them.  And because the Etsy girl took so long to make the dresses, we didn't have time to send them back to her for a redo.  It was such a stressful situation for my bridesmaids to deal with that I didn't want to burden them further.  I told them to find any yellow dress that they would be comfortable in.  So that's why my girls dresses don't match.  Lol.

My lovely bouquet.  I adore these sunflowers.  The florist did an outstanding job on all of the flowers.

A random candid that someone snapped.  I like how it turned out, although I wish that hand wasn't smack dab in the middle!  I found that gorgeous flower crown on Etsy.  So delicate and pretty...

The amazing cupcakes that managed to survive my pre wedding car crash (sadly they didn't all make it...but that's ok...smashed cupcakes taste just as good...there was enough perfect ones for the guests...I made hubbie eat the ruined ones...mwah haha)!

Extended family shot.

Pat was supposed to pretend that he had cold feet and  was running away...I don't think he was to interested!

Our partially filled guest"book".

Wedding Party...

Cute kids.  We had lots of little ones at the wedding.  I made goody bags for all of them (needless to say, they were a hit).  :)

We stayed in Hocking Hills for the honeymoon, in one of our favorite log cabins.  We mostly just relaxed but on Monday we went on a trail ride!  I rode this pretty girl...she was awesome.  Pat was more than a little nervous, being that it was his first time on a horse.  He did well though!

This is Gunner.  He lives next door to the cabin that we stayed in.  I love this guy!  He loves me b/c I bring him apples and the occasional piece of hard  candy (he has a sweet tooth)...something we have in common.

I'll post the professional pics soon!

Pre Wedding Day Blues

So I finally tied the knot!  I've got lots of photos to share with you but that will have to wait for another post.

Today I'm going to tell you about the day before my wedding.

I hadn't been sleeping well.  All those months of ridiculing nervous wreck brides finally caught up with me.  Three days before the wedding I was hit with the worse case of nerves ever!  I couldn't eat without feeling ill, I wasn't sleeping much at all, and I felt enormous anxiety over the weather and other details.  I had tons of last minute shopping and crafting to do.  Plus I was stressed because I somehow managed to GAIN weight the month before the big day!  I was basically an emotional basket case.  I teared up in front of strangers and actually cried in front of friends.  Not happy tears but gut wrenching sobs.  All because of the stress of the day not because of the actual marriage.  I don't think that's normal, right?  Everyone kept saying how excited and happy I should be, which in turn made me feel worse for not acting like a "normal" bride.  Whatever that means.

So I finished all my shopping, loaded up the car with my things and my dogs and headed to the bakery on my way out of town (the wedding was an hours drive and I was meeting my bridesmaids at a cabin near the wedding site).  I was still feeling the butterflies in my stomach but when I saw my beautiful vegan wedding cupcakes, I suddenly started to feel a bit happy and excited.   I put the huge box of cupcakes next to me in the passenger seat and we were on our way!  I pulled onto the interstate and within 10 minutes I was in a four car pileup!!!!

No one was hurt and the first two cars escaped any damage.  However my car was totaled.  We all pulled over to wait for the police and while I was chatting with the other drivers, I glanced at my car and saw my large dog sitting in the front seat....On TOP of the cupcakes!   I started screaming and flailing my arms as I ran to my vehicle. The damage was done.  Over half the cupcakes were smashed.

The other drivers and the newly arrived police officer must have thought I was insane.  A sobbing, sweaty, cupcake covered mess.

It was not my best moment.

After I got home,  I sobbed some more and then got control...until I talked to my best friend.  Then the waterworks came back  force.

I was ready to call off the wedding.  All I wanted was to crawl in bed and pull the covers over my head.  They wouldn't let me.  My BF drive an hour out of her way to pick me up and we headed to the cabin.

In retrospect, it was good that I had my friends and family with me.  They helped distract me from what would have been an all night sob fest/pity party.

I finally have the paperwork underway and should have a check from the insurance company soon.  Then off to buy yet another car.  I've got my eye on a Subaru Forester, fingers crossed!

So that's the story of the day before my wedding.  I'll be telling it to my grandkids one day...
