Hi all! Happy Sunday! I know it's hard to be happy about Sunday evening...the last evening of freedom before the ole 9-5. This Sunday though has rocked! I called off from my ukulele lesson and just lounged. For hours. Seriously. :) I stayed in my jammies and crafted to my little heart's content. I worked on my embroidery, stitched some stuffed animals, and made yet another bird mobile! This cutie is now for sale on my etsy shop:

I wanted to share a quick tutorial with you all today! If you're anything like me, you cringe at the price tag that comes with the store bought tree skirts. That's why I decided to make my own this year! I wanted something quick and inexpensive. My first thought was to use oilcloth fabric but then I came across a round vinyl tablecloth for less than $4! It was 60" which was way too big...so I just cut it down to size. I can't give you an exact measurement because I just eyeballed it. :) Here are the supplies I used: vinyl tablecloth in a festive holiday print
Step 1: Fold the tablecloth in half. Cut out a semi circle from the center of your folded material. This will be where the tree will sit.
Step 2: Unfold your tree skirt and cut a straight line down one side, clear to the circular portion that you cut out in the previous step.
Step 3: Slip your bias tape over the cut edge of your fabric so that the bias tape sandwiches the fabric. Squeeze a thin line of glue onto your fabric and press the bias tape firmly down.
Step 4: Continue gluing the bias tape, a little at a time.
Step 5: Turn your tree skirt over and glue down the bias tape along the back as well.
Step 7: Allow the glue to dry and then place the skirt under your tree!
Sit back and enjoy your beautiful tree! :)
How was your Thanksgiving?
Mine was rather quiet, but nice. My parents came for a visit but sadly my sister couldn't make it (living in Japan makes it difficult to get home for the holidays)!
We had a yummy vegan feast.
Field Roast Celebration Roast
Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
Le Sueur Peas
Pumpkin Pie (not pictured).
My Mom got a new puppy! She brought her along! I am so in love with this little dog! :)
She doesn't have a name yet. Although Suki is on the table! I think she looks like a Matilda but Mom hates it! ;)
I don't really do Black Friday. I'm not a fan of crowds, cold weather, or getting out of bed before the sun. I ventured out to the fabric store in the afternoon. It was still rather crowded....but doable! I stocked up on some lovely new fabric. My favorite is the sunflowers on the left...so cheerful!
Last night I put up my holiday tree! I love pine trees...the smell has already filled my home! :) So far none of the kitties have attempted to climb the tree. We'll see how long that lasts!
I need more ornaments. I bought four this year...but it's not enough! I made a few more last night...some of my stuffed trees and a couple of hearts. I may have to do some Etsy shopping today! ;)
Tibet and Spike admiring the tree:
I'm not completely done with my decorating...but it's a start!
When will you put up your tree? :)

I've been hard at work on a new creation! I finally finished it this week! My festive bird hanging! The first time I make something new, it's always trial and error. That's how we learn...or at least how I learn! For example I thought I'd zip through the birds on my sewing machine. However, the eyes (buttons) I used were too big. Next time, smaller buttons and no hand sewing! :). I'm excited to make a new one! I think this guy will be for a swap I'm participating in. I'll make some new ones for the shop soon!

I have been trying to find one of these for the longest time! However fate hasn't been kind to me. :( If any of you stumble upon one, please send me the link! :) You'll officially become my best friend!
Cute doesn't even begin to describe these little darlings! Perfect stocking stuffer, in my opinion (they even have a kitty version)!
I've been a huge fan of Ryan Berkley's prints for so long. I finally broke down and purchased this cutie at Wholly Craft this morning (well mine is actually framed already..so even better)! I can tell that I've unleashed a monster because I've been on berkleyillustrations etsy shop for the past ten minutes lusting after so many things. :)
Now I want this one:
and this one:
I also have some of his designs as an embroidery pattern, so I think I'll be whipping up something soon! :)
What's on your wish list this year?

Despite feeling like death warmed over, I have been in a very crafty mood this weekend! This morning I worked on a couple of new projects while also finishing off some older ones. First up, a set of fabric coasters. I just love this mod looking bird fabric! So festive. It makes me smile. :)
Feeling inspired by Cameron over at Paint Myself Pretty, I decided to try my hand at bookmarks. Or should I say bookmark, as I've only made one so far!
I finished stuffing and sewing a few more tree ornaments!
I especially love the mini tree on the end!
All of these goodies are now listed and available in my Etsy shop.

I'm feeling a little under the weather right now. I'm no doctor but I'd say I've got a cold and laryngitis!
Being sick is nature's way of telling me to slow down and take care of myself. I find that hard to do! I'm always taking care of others (both human and fur kids) and inevitably I find myself coming in last place. So when I came down with this bug I knew I'd have to put myself first. I took the day off and lounged in bed until I couldn't stand it any longer. Then I moved a few feet so I could sit in front of the sewing machine. Lol. I churned out a couple of holiday ornaments before my energy faded (I got very little sleep the past two nights).
So I'm not 100% sure yet but I may be participating in my first craft show next weekend! I'm still waiting to hear back from the woman in charge. I contacted her a few weeks ago and she finally called me back yesterday. We've been playing phone tag since then. Since time is of the essence, I'm operating under the assumption that I will be doing the show. Therefore, I've got to get my crafty bum in gear! I have 1 week to get enough merchandise together. That's a lot of crafting in a short amount of time! Factor in that I'm also participating in National Novel Writing Month (1,667 words per day) and holding down a 50+ hour a week job...I'm not even sure how I'm going to do it all! ;)
I have will-power on my side...and my ability to work extremely well under pressure (that's how I got through college...I still tell the story of how I wrote a 30 page term paper in 1 night)! So fingers crossed! I will keep you all updated! :)
On to the giveaway! I will be gifting one lucky winner with one of my holiday tree ornaments. :) Here's how to enter:
1. Follow my blog.
2. Leave a comment telling me your favorite holiday memory.
1. Blog/Twitter/Facebook about this giveaway.
That's it! I'll randomly choose a winner on Sunday November 11th. Good luck!
Craft stores are evil. There, I said it. Every single time I walk into one with the intention of purchasing one item, I walk out $60 poorer. Today could have been worse. My total was $80 and I forgot my coupons! Thankfully a sweet lady in line behind me gave me one of her coupons. I saved nearly twenty bucks! Thanks stranger...you really made my day with your kindness! :)
I'm excited to work on some new creations!
What got you excited today? :)
