Often, I find myself having to start a project over because I couldn't be bothered to read the directions IN FULL.  This is what happened yesterday.  After completing 15 fabric yo-yo's, I realized that I made them incorrectly!  Originally I had planned on making a "rosette necklace".  After all that work in vain, I was chomping at the bit to actually complete a project!  So instead of the necklace I made a simple little hair clip.  :)  I'm going to experiment with layering them, using different colors and buttons.  I think it will be fun!

This morning when I arrived at Starbucks, they already had my drink waiting for me!  What a bunch of sweethearts!  :)

I hope your day is off to a great start!

Craftin' The Days Away...

Several weeks ago I entered a giveaway on Violetbella's blog.    Much to my surprise, I won this adorable crocheted apron from Hoot-n-Annie!  I put off wearing it for nearly a week because it's so pretty I didn't want to mess it up!  I finally broke down last night when I was making Arabian Lentil and Rice Soup.  I'm so glad I did too...this apron is unbelievably comfortable!  I'm contemplating knitting one of my own...just to see how it turns out!

Tomorrow I'm going to a new friend's house to craft.  I love that I've been meeting new people lately who share my love of crafting.  :)  Here's a sneak peak of what I'm currently working on!  I'm hoping to finish it this evening.  I will be sure to post a photo when it's all done!

What are you working on?

What a busy week!  I've been having actual withdraw from not blogging more often.  :(  Let me fill you in on what's been going on!
I joined yet another swap over at Swapbot.  This one is a knitted washcloth swap.  I made a lovely basket weave in an organic cotton.  It's so soft, I sort of want it for myself!  :)

What's a week without a stop by the thrift store?  Here are my latest treasures!

A crocheted afghan in shades of green and white.

This adorable vintage chair that I've had my eye on for some time.  It's so comfortable, however the cats refuse to let me sit on it.  It has become THEIR chair!

Cute bird on a limb wall hanging.

I love this fabric.  It's actually from that dress I scored at Goodwill a few weeks ago.

On Sunday I went to the zoo with a friend of mine.  I love the kangaroos.  They are always laying around, not doing much of anything.  This one however decided to sit pretty for the camera!

This guy is my favorite of all the kangaroos.  He's always so cool.  ;)

These little penguins always remind me of the children's book "And Tango Makes Three".  If you haven't read it, you should!  It's about a "gay" penguin couple (Roy and Silo) who want a baby.  Their keepers give them an egg to hatch.  Cute story (and it's based on a true story).

Lazy day for the tigers!

Today was R's first day back to school.  I had about ten minutes to come up with something to mark his first day of 3rd grade.  So he got some chocolate dipped strawberries and a little construction paper love!  He smiled and said "cool".  What more could a nanny ask for?

Vintage Love

It's no secret that I love all things vintage.  However I do seem to gravitate towards the 60's and 70's when it comes to decorating my kitchen and living room.  Here is my newest owl.  He's a handsome fellow!  It's hard to tell from the picture but he is made entirely out of yarn!  Very whimsical.  :)

Owls and mushrooms, two of my favorite themes!  Here is a 1970's bread box!  It goes so well with the mushroom canisters I bought months ago.  This thing is so has plenty of drawers and space.  It even has hooks on the back in case I ever want to hang it.  So handy!

So on to my new favorite thing!  This adorable avocado green and cream vintage typewriter.  :)  It's a Royal Sabre (from the 60's).  It's in good working condition, just needs a new ribbon.  I love love love it!  I found a neat tutorial on making typewritten fabric labels here.  I can't wait to give it a try...but I will have to order a new ribbon first!  ;)

Don't Spill The Milk!

I've been noticing a lot of cute handmade bibs in the blogosphere and on Etsy.  I decided to try my hand at it.  I used an adorable vintage sheet with frolicking kittens and a thrifted terry cloth towel. It has a snap closure.  Now if only I had a child to wear it!!!  :)

Crafty Boy!

I was so excited when R asked me to teach him to knit.  I gave him some kid friendly needles and some cotton yarn and taught him the knit stitch.  He learned so quickly!  I was really impressed.  :)  He worked for over an hour on his little swatch.  He says his first project is going to be a washcloth!  I love kids that knit!!!

Last night I came home (after a long, hard day) to find a package from my best friend.  I just adore getting packages in the mail and the unexpected ones are the best!  Channon and her little guy Elijah sent me the most thoughtful things!  There were two packages of notecards and some really cute cat themed hot pads.  Elijah picked out the cards himself.  Somehow he picked out two of my favorite things, owls and flowers!

Thanks so much Chan!  :)  I love you guys!

I took the boys to Chuck E. Cheese today.  Little R had a great time riding the kiddie rides.

Big R couldn't wait to trade in his tickets for a cool prize!

It was such a beautiful day that we decided to play for a bit before heading in for lunch.

I love beautiful days like this.

A Glimpse

My Mom knew how much I've always loved these she gave them to me!  Here they are hanging in my bedroom.  If I ever am lucky enough to become a Mom I plan on using these in the nursery!

I can't remember where this one came from...although I do believe it was a relative's.  She sits on my vanity.

My Mom bought these for me from a local antique shop and gave them to me for Christmas (years ago).  I'm surprised that in my house full of pets, they have survived!

I found this festive feather at the zoo last week.  Cute, right?

My Mom made this little vase in one of her pottery classes!
