Memorial Day Weekend

I headed to my hometown this weekend to visit family and friends.  I spent the morning out at my friend Pat's place.  I enjoyed the daisies and the rusted old truck as well as getting to visit with my kitten Drusilla (that he adopted)!

Took some silly pics of myself while Pat was busy elsewhere!

I also got to spend some quality time with my best friend Channon.  We haven't seen each other since January so there was a lot to catch up on!  We went out to dinner and a movie and ended our evening with an impromptu photo shoot!  :)

Mom and I met up with Chan and her adorable daughter again today!  This is the sweetest little girl ever.  She was just full of smiles the entire time!  I really really wanted to keep her but her Momma said no.  ;)

Gardening Time!

I was determined not to go overboard this year.  Every spring I convince myself that somehow I will magically make all kinds of veggies grow in my largely shaded yard.  Well not this year!  I'm being SENSIBLE!  I only picked up a few things that I have had success with in prior years.  Some lovely red tinged lettuce,  two types of tomatoes,  and a pepper plant.  That's it.  I am insanely jealous of those of you with sunny yards who can plant whatever they want.  :(  Oh well...this just means I can frequent the local farmer's markets!  That's always fun!

Multitude of Mushrooms!

With all the rain we've had lately, I shouldn't have been surprised when my backyard suddenly contained more mushrooms than grass!  I love mushrooms (to look at, not eat) so I was squealing like a dork and had to run for my camera!  I really enjoyed the little spider perched on top of the mushroom cap in picture 3...two of my favorite things combined!  :)

Meet Giles!

Giles is a handsome black and white boy with startling green eyes.  He's always been lovable but recently he's become a bit strange.  He's earned the nickname of "bipolar boy".  One moment he's sweet and the next he's lashing out at any cat in his vicinity.  When he gets in his "moods" the only cure is to let him go outside.  He always comes back in feeling much better!

He enjoys finding unusual places to rest.  One of his favorite places is on top of the fridge.  When he discovered a package of paper towels in his spot, he improvised!  I love this silly cat!  :)

The Big Day!

Yesterday, my sister married her sweetheart!  It was a beautiful, intimate ceremony with just a handful of family as witnesses.  They were wed in an old one room schoolhouse. Very original and perfect for their small wedding!

My sister, Kelly and I after the rehearsal on Friday night.

Kelly and her special guy.

My cupcake assistant, Miss Katie, enjoyed licking the beaters!

Surprisingly, we didn't devour these tasty treats before the big day!

Close up of the wedding cupcakes!  I adore the delicate flowers we found on Etsy!

Kelly had the reception decorated with vintage vases filled with hyacinth flowers.  Simple and pretty!

The groom's mother made delicious Japanese food.  I especially loved the vegan sushi!  Yum!

The youngest guest at the wedding!  She was such a cutie!

It was such a busy day, I took a moment to rest near the window.

My parent's had a great time watching their youngest daughter tie the knot!

Sisters!

Mom and Kelly share a quiet moment.

A beautiful bride!

It's official!  Kelly signing the marriage certificate.

Kelly and Toshi end their wedding on a playful note.  Kelly is wearing a cute pair of kitty ears (aka: Nekomimi).

Kelly, thank you so much for having me as a part of your special day.  I think Toshi is your perfect match!  I love you both so much.  :)  Hugs!

Home

Lately I've been feeling like I should be on summer vacation!  I know it's just because school is almost out for the year.  I miss the carefree days of being a child with the seemingly unending summer months spread out before me!  Don't you?

For some reason, summer makes me feel like a homebody.  I want to nest!  Rearrange furniture, sew, knit, garden and play with my fur kids.  So that's what I've been doing this past week!

Tibet and Freya enjoying the painted wood floors.  The kitties just love lounging on them now.  I wonder if it feels cool to them?  I'm sure it feels better than that old carpet, especially on hot days!

I love this crazy lamp more every day!  I also love my vintage monkeypod leaf bowl!

I can't remember the designer of this bowl...it's driving me crazy!  I'm pretty sure it's from the 1970's though...Notice Spike in the background?  He's such a camera hog!

Whole Foods has the best bags!  :)  This may be my favorite yet!

Vegan marshmallows!  Yum.  These are my downfall.  Too bad Whole Foods rarely has them in stock.  Hopefully they get more in before my big camping trip this summer!

Because of the (nearly) never ending rain lately, my street has been flooded.  A mallard and his mate has taken up residence.  I see them every single day.  They are super cute little quackers!

What have you all been up to lately?  :)
