Frog Friend

I woke up this morning and discovered that for once it was NOT raining.  It was my chance to get the lawn mowed!  Not an easy job since some of the grass was mid calf high!  It's done now though...so I can relax for  a week or so!  :)  I had a lovely little surprise while doing the front yard.  Do you see my little frog friend?

He was a very calm and friendly little thing.  He just sat in my hand for the longest time.  This totally made my day!  :)

Spring Has Sprung!

Am I the only one who finds dandelions beautiful?  Such a cheerful little weed!

My yard is covered in violets! Simply lovely. If this rain would stop maybe I could finally mow!  Until then I will enjoy these delicate beauties!

I really enjoy the color of this tree in my front yard.  Too bad it's so short lived!

Random vegan pizza I made for lunch yesterday.  There's nothing like a homemade crust!  :)

Crafty Swap!

The lovely Miss Cameron over at Paint Myself Pretty suggested that we do a craft swap!  It was so much fun...and my first swap with a fellow blogger.  I adore her cute little stuffed owls that she makes so she sent me "Fiddlestix"!  As an extra surprise she made "Twiggy" the Cat.  These two guys are so adorable, don't you think?

She also included this beautiful card.  This kitty totally reminds me of my Miss Freya!

There was also some awesome fabric in the package.  I can't wait to use these!

Little trinket bags with owls stamped on them:

Cameron really liked my Goddess Flags so I made this one for her.  I used a striped background fabric and a starry fabric for the Goddess.

Her daughter loves critters so I made her a couple of reusable sandwich/snack sacks.

Swaps are so much fun!  :)

Earth Day Contribution

Lowes gave away pine saplings in honor of Earth Day.  I was up bright and early on Saturday in order to collect my free tree.  Little did I know it was only inches tall and has to be in a pot for the first year!  :)  Still...if this little guy makes it through the year I will be planting him in my yard next Earth Day!

Kid At Heart!

Sometimes I think I am not a normal 35 year old!  I am a real kid at heart.  I love stuffed animals, dolls and kids books.  Here's my small collection of stuffed animals (my Mom keeps urging me to come collect all my childhood toys from her garage...guess I should).  Freddy is the bear on the left.  Freddy has been with me for 30 years or so.  He was my favorite childhood toy and he still reigns as supreme stuffed bear on the bed.  Haha!  Beside him is Spooky the felt cat.  I got him at the camping retreat I go to every summer.  He was labelled as "Your Familiar Away From Home"...or some such thing.  A play on the witches familiars.  Cute cat don't you think?
On the left is Ellie the Elephant...I believe I picked her up on a trip to Columbus Zoo many years ago.  Mr. Knit-ly is the little owl that I knitted based on a pattern I found in a children's knitting book.  There's Fluffy the rabbit on the right....I don't know where this guy came from but I imagine it was probably from my Mom.

Last but not least is my newest little friend...Moxie!  She's an UglyDoll.  I think she is so precious and very cuddly!

I love her turned in feet and her yellow teeth and her beady eyes!  A monster after my own heart!

All My Children Have Paws!

Not everyone is blessed with children.  Rather than bemoan the fact, I have embraced being Mom to my fur kids!  So this morning we celebrated Easter MY way, with a basket of treats for the kids!
There were goodies for everyone.  The dogs shared some treats...although if Zoe had her way she would eat them all by herself!

She thinks the whole basket is hers!

Zoe pulls out all the stops for a treat.  Here she is trying to shake my hand!

Gabriel and Tibet check out the squeaking skunk toy!

Tibet loves his loofah feather fish!

Fiji bunny and the Rat Girls got cute little "carrot" chew sticks!

Marigold (the skunk) received new food and water dishes!
How did you celebrate Easter?

Take A Seat

Found this interesting chair at my favorite vintage store Boomerang Room.  It's from the 1960's.  I love the curves and the velvety fabric!  It's about time I got a chair for my living room.  Haha.  It's always interesting when you have company and only one sofa to sit on.  It just took me so long to find the right vintage chair.  I'm so picky.  It has to be visually appealing and also CHEAP!  ;)

I also found a wedding gift for my sister and her fiance....but I really want to keep it for myself!  :)  I obviously can't post a pic of it yet but I will soon!

Come again?

I took the boys to Franklin Park Conservatory again this week.  We saw so many beautiful butterflies.  I love this picture of a butterfly resting on a Chihuly piece!

This gorgeous girl spent some time riding around on my finger!  She was simply breathtaking...

I love all the different rooms at the conservatory.  I took this pic in the desert!

More Chihuly...

Through the waterfall...

The boys had a great time!  They wanted pictures of every waterfall we passed!

Later in the day we had an egg hunt.  The baby didn't quite get what all the fuss was about.  He did enjoy opening the eggs though.  He took one bite of his jelly bean and proceeded to spit it back into his plastic egg.  Lol.  Kids!

Etsy Love!

I just discovered these beautiful prints on Etsy.  Obviously the cat and owl prints are my favorite!  But really all of his work is delightful.  Take a look...what do you think?

Give a Hoot!

I had a package waiting for me when I arrived home yesterday!  That's always such a nice thing to find on your front porch!  This particular box held my beautiful 1970's latch hook.

OWLS!  Yay!  Originally I had planned to make a pillow out of this but I didn't realize how large this was.  Instead, I'm using it as a wall hanging.

 My very eclectic living room.

Chevron pattern afghan I scored at the thrift shop.

 My favorite magazine!
