Bento Day 2

I'm really trying to commit to taking my lunch more often rather than buying those microwave vegan meals that so often taste like the cardboard they're packaged in. My lunch for tomorrow is Dal and basmati rice, raspberries/blueberries, walnuts, and a chocolate chip banana muffin. Topped off with some cute little Japanese cutouts to make my lunchbox pretty! :)

Day 16

Prompt 16: What I Wore Today.

My outfit today is not one of my better ones. Laundry needs to be done and I am down to my least favorite clothes. My top is from Forever 21...cream with red polka dots and a girly little neck frill. The shorts are standard denim cutoffs paired with black old navy flip flops.

My Laptop Lunch Box

I bought this adorable little lunch box a couple of years ago and only actually used it a handful of times. So I have decided to make use of it again! I have so many adorable bento accessories that I could definitely get creative with my lunches in the future. For now though, I'm using what I have on hand. In the main compartment I have a delicious vegan corn chowder (thank you Vegan with a Vengeance)! That specific container comes with a lid so that it wont leak all over the rest of the box. To the right I have sunflower seeds and some kettle corn. Also included is a Trader Joe's vegan rice krispy treat and some raspberries. Looks like a tasty lunch and snack! :)

Hair

Today I finally broke down and went to my fave salon Lucky 13 where I got my hair cut and my brows waxed. I like the new 'do although she didn't really style it...she basically used a blow dryer and I ended up with really tousled, wavy hair. It's ok that way but I am excited to see how it looks straightened. Here it is! :)

Today's prompt was to journal about your insecurities....and to include the word "but" somewhere in it because it is going to lead into tomorrows entry. This is pretty self explanatory. Here's the list of all the things that I feel insecure about!

Day Twelve

Prompt twelve is all about trends that I find interesting. I've always loved owls and mushrooms and it seems like they are seeing a boost in popularity. I've definitely jumped on the cupcake bandwagon...specifically vegan cupcakes thanks to Isa Chandra Moskowitz's awesome book "Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World". I've been knitting for several years now. I would've learned sooner but I couldn't find a teacher! :) I've always enjoyed a good vampire book. I read the Twilight series when it first came out and loved it. I hated that they made it into a movie (they suck) and I hated the associated popularity and teen gushing that followed. Last of all, I am into "staycations" this year because money is so tight. So I will stay put and enjoy Columbus! :) Lots to do here!

Weekend

Busy weekend ahead. Big P is coming in for a visit. I don't really know what's on the agenda other than hitting P.F. Chang's for dinner tonight and possibly wandering High Street tomorrow. Maybe I'll finally get my hair cut! :) That would be nice because it is at that point of growing out where it NEVER looks good. I thought I would attempt to grow out my layers so that I can wear braids without random hairs poking out. I just don't know. I think I look better with layers. Hhmmm...what to do?

So I'm wasting time at Starbucks...totally putting off the grocery shopping I need to do. Wal Mart is just sitting across the parking lot judging me for being lazy! ;) I am excited though to get some food. It's been awhile since I've gone grocery shopping. Haha. I'm planning on making some corn chowder today. Yum!

Ok....so I totally screwed this one up. I looked up the journal prompt on my cell and for some reason only the first half of the instructions showed up. So I didn't catch the four categories thing. My Fave page has way more than four!!!

Day Ten

Journal Prompt 10: This prompt is all about collections.

Some of these are things I've collected in the past (such as Cows) but most are things that I am currently collecting. My fave collection? My zany fridge magnets! I have one that has a picture of a mother and her daughter preparing food. The caption says "That's right honey, hopes and dreams are Satan's way of distracting you from making dinner". Hahaha! Love it!

My sister...

My lovely sister has been visiting with me the past few days. I always enjoy her visits because no one else "gets" me quite like she does. We are two peas in a pod and always have been. From our offbeat sense of humor to our love of cupcakes, we are sisters through and through.

We haven't done much with our time together but sit at Starbucks and talk. This was supposed to be the week of our camping vacation in the Ozarks but due to financial issues we had to cancel. Maybe next year!

Today we had our coffee/internet time and then wandered around Wal Mart for a bit. I picked up yet another Caladium for my shade garden. I've got to plant that this evening along with all the freebie plants I picked up at the farmer's market. I just realized that I will have a little patriotic flower bed as all the freebies are red, white and blue!

Day Nine

Journal Prompt 9: Choose another person who is very significant in your life right now. It can definitely be the same person that we wrote about on day 3, but I chose to do someone different. Anyway, this prompt is going to be all about those wonderful adjectives, and typography. Describe your special person with as many words as you can fit. For each word, try to use a different font or writing style. This is a great way to practice fun typography!

Finally! I am officially caught up with everyone else in the challenge! :) Feels good. Now I will only have one entry a day. Go me!

Garden Fun!

The latest additions to my garden...hostas, King Tut ornamental grass and beautiful lillies! I picked up some freebie flowers today. They are a little sad and need to be planted asap. Hopefully they will make a comeback!

I came across this challenge today and thought it would be the perfect thing to pull me out of my journaling funk. I will post pics of my creations! :)

Wish List

This week

It has been a busy week! I finally found a sofa that suits me at my favorite local vintage shop: Boomerang Room. It is a 1970's couch and it is oh so comfortable! It's virtually impossible to sit on that couch and not fall asleep! :) I will try to remember to post a pic later this week.

I also ended up purchasing a Gig pitty kitty print. I love love love it but sometimes I feel like the eyes follow me! :)

I also got an art deco style kitchen cabinet and a vintage kitchen cart! All great buys and good deals too!
