My Holiday

I had to find ways to occupy myself this holiday as my sister spent Christmas with her fiance and my parents were in WV. I felt a bit crafty so after a brief fabric trip to Hobby Lobby, I made this cute cowgirl pillow!
I cleaned Fiji's cage...as you can see he's a very laid back rabbit! He also got his nails trimmed and as a thank you Fiji licked my arm! :)
I had an intense craving for chocolate and coffee so I made these yummy "Mocha Mamas" from Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero. So tasty!

100 Joys

I came across this great idea on http://getthewordsout.blogspot.com/2010/12/100-joys.html . Really good way to count your blessings and joys! :)

1. Listening to the happy purrs of my kitty friends...melts my heart every time!

2. Hugs from little Roshan. There's nothing better than a child's spontaneous love!

3. Starbucks. Need I say more? ;)

4. Warm summer nights when the cicada's and crickets are chirping away.

5. Getting cozy under my heated blanket!

6. Knitting. The process is so relaxing and the finished product is a definite joy!

7. My new car...the beautiful Subaru Outback! She still needs a name...help!

8. The delicate little squirrel necklace that I ordered from VioletBella on Etsy!

9. Watching my kittens climb the Christmas tree!

10. The feeling of knowing that my knitted scarves have been selling at Wholly Craft. I actually got my first consignment check yesterday! :)

That's it for now...but I will continue this throughout the year! :)

My Gift To Myself!

I went to my hometown to do a little car shopping on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday was a total bust. Absolutely nothing in my price range. My Dad and I tried again the next day. I had a list of car lots I wanted to visit. On the way to one of them, we spotted a lot with quite a few Subaru's. We pulled in and found one for 3,000 which was a bit out of my range. I talked the guy down to 2600. With taxes and whatnot I ended up paying 2900. I'm totally broke but I have a car! My beautiful Subaru Outback...I've wanted an Outback for so long!
Now I'm trying to figure out what her name is. My cars always have names. My first car was Connie. My neon was Rosita. My short-lived Pontiac was Roxy. Any suggestions? ;)

Christmas Kitty

Drusilla is fascinated by the tree and the ornaments. Last night she climbed the tree and perched on a branch while batting at ornaments. It was really cute!

Drusilla wasn't the only one getting into the holiday spirit! Gabriel loves wrapping paper! :)

You Know It's Christmas When...

Your sister posts creepy Santa dolls on your Facebook wall! If you are interested you can buy one here:

I ordered a nose stud for myself today. It's a super cute star!
My favorite purchase of the day is this adorable squirrel necklace from Violet Bella's shop on Etsy. See more here:

Mooz- Lum

I really want to see this movie. However only the top ten cities receiving the most votes will get to. Right now, Columbus is number 19. Let's change that!!!

Kitten Love!

Spike and Drusilla are never far apart! They eat, sleep and play together! :)

Lovely Sourdough

I made sourdough bread today! There's nothing better than the aroma of fresh baked bread. :) I made two loaves, a round one and a regular one. This is the second time I've made bread from this starter.

Yum!

The Death of Roxy

Another car bites the dust! This one I owned less than a week! Last night on the way home she started overheating. I pulled over and called a friend who took a look and told me it was a cracked engine block. Can you believe my luck???
So after a couple of hours, AAA came to tow my useless heap of junk home. Now I have two non-working vehicles wasting away in my drive. I'm one trailer and a beer gut away from white trash.

Tissue Holder

I was feeling crafty yesterday so I scoured the internet looking for a quick fix. I stumbled across
I started by using my sewing machine but then the bobbin got all tangled and I got fed up so I finished by hand. Here's what it looks like. Keep in mind that I don't own an iron (gasp) so it's not laying as nicely as it should.

Insert tissues and you're done!
Ta-Da!

Just another Friday!

My hairless Dumbo rat Violet enjoys riding around in my pocket. Isn't she a cutie???

Who's that dork in a cowboy hat? ;)
I made yumtastic vegan dinner rolls. Even using yeast the entire process only took an hour. Well worth the trouble! Mmmmm.....
There's nothing like warm homemade bread with potato soup!

The Death of Rosita

From the start Rosita had her problems that I didn't have the funds to address. So I did what any struggling-to-make-ends-meet girl does in this situation...I drove her til she died!

I realized that she had a pretty major transmission leak and I must say I was getting tired of topping off her fluids every other day! Finally I took her in to get an estimate only to be told that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. In the mechanics own words "your car's not worth the 1,800 bucks it would cost to fix. Go see my friend at the car lot down the street and get yourself a new car". Yeah, right! So I decide to keep my eye out for a deal and in the meantime continue to drive my Rosita. The very next morning on my way to Starbucks, the battery light comes on, and the radio shuts off and the headlights go very dim. Conveniently the day after I visited the shop, my alternator needs replaced? Hhmmm.... That would be another 300 bucks to fix.

Luckily, a friend of mine was selling her old car super cheap. So I bought it. Her name is Roxy!

I implore you, oh mighty Goddess of the Cars, let this one last!!! :)

Pomanders

I came across a post on Big Hill Goddess's blog about making pomanders so I thought I'd give it a shot. Check out her post here: http://www.bighillgoddess.com/2010/12/20-days-until-yule.html.
I had a bunch of Clementines that had seen better days so I used a knitting needle to poke holes in them and then inserted whole cloves. After doing a little more research on pomanders, I discovered that I didn't do this properly. Apparently, it takes several weeks to "cure" the pomanders. I don't have the patience for that! So here's my finished product:

Babies

Pictures of my Spike and Drusilla when they were babies!

Kitties Galore!

Drusilla loves helping untangle the holiday lights! :)

Tibet takes a well deserved break...
Gabriel snuggles up in Mommy's coat!
Spike is sitting pretty!

You're a Star!

I'm a die hard frappuccino girl but on particularly cold days I will indulge in a hot latte. :)
My latest scarf...I love the colors of this yarn! By the way, if anyone is interested in purchasing a handmade gift this year I am selling my scarfs!

Weekend Love

This weekend I am thankful for beautiful, soft yarn in a myriad of colors. I love knitting and I love that I have so many options when it comes to yarn. :)

I am thankful for precious, silly, playful kittens who love to be held...
I am thankful for full moons...so mysterious and magical!
I am thankful for everything vintage!

Thanksgiving

The family came to my house for Thanksgiving Day this year. I made a vegan meal consisting of Butternut Black Bean Stew, Rolls, Wild Rice, and pumpkin pie. It was tasty and filling without leaving everyone in a food coma!
My sister brought her sweetheart. They are such a cute couple! :)

The kitten loves Mom! I think this is Drusilla but it's hard to tell...that's the trouble with twins! Lol.
Being goofy with my sister...
Mom and Dad: a couple of hippies! :)

Lucky 13

Got my hair cut today at Lucky 13. It's a little bit shorter than I wanted but I'm not too worried about it! It will be easier to care for and shorten my blow dry time in the mornings. :)

Not Your Typical Roll In The Hay

I have a few cats who spend most of their time outdoors (by choice). With the cold weather approaching I wanted to provide some sort of shelter for them. I found this idea online somewhere. Basically take a plastic tote (with lid) and cut a hole in one side. Sand the edges (or take the lazy way out and tape the edges) and fill with hay! Little loves his hideaway!

Great Day

Today I stopped by my favorite vintage store, Boomerang Room. I found so many wonderful deals! I just adore this wrought iron table!
Aluminum Pitcher and 5 cups. I think these are darling! I remember drinking from these at my Grandma's house when I was little.
Festive blue chairs (2).
Mod 70's suitcase.
Drusilla loves it! :)
